Seth Gabrielsson is a Sydney based filmmaker and composer. A graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, his work has been exhibited in international galleries, film festivals, and radio. Seth is the co-founder and creative director of the filmmaking collective Strange Attractor.

His work as a filmmaker seeks to develop a unique language built upon narrative and visual fragmentation, bleak humour, and magical realism. His awards include Best Student Director at the Independent Shorts Awards in Los Angeles, Best Expressionism Film at the Retro Avante-Garde Festival in New York, and Official Selections at the YoungFilmmakers program in New York, and the Chicago Arthouse Film Festival.

In 2023 Seth was selected as one of fifty international filmmakers to attend PLAYLAB's Creators Lab under the mentorship of Apichatpong Weerasethakul, deep in the Yucatan jungle of Mexico. There he completed 'The Hole' - his sixth short as director.

As a composer he has written original music for multiple short and feature length films. His latest score for the feature documentary ‘Climate Changers’, was completed under residency at Church St. Studios in Sydney, and was selected to compete in competition at the 2023 Sydney Film Festival. His approach to film music is typified by its synthesis of orchestral, electronic and acoustic sound sources, and a firm belief in the ‘composer as cinematographer’: that music should light the scene without announcing itself as seperate to the image.

Seth is currently working on his seventh short film as director and producer, and his eleventh score as a film composer.
